Cata, Florensis, and Sisifo receive the Honourable Mention at the 24th Compasso d’Oro ADI

Milan, June 14, 2016

The International Jury of the 24th Edition of the Compasso d’Oro ADI Award bestowed the Honourable Mention on the Artemide appliances Cata, designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, Florensis, designed by Loss Lovegrove, and Sisifo, designed by Scott Wilson.

An historical bond exists between Artemide and the Compasso d’Oro ADI Award, which the company won with:

Such bond was strengthened with the Compasso d’Oro for Lifetime Achievement in 1994.

The awarding ceremony of Compasso d’Oro ADI took place at Palazzo Isimbardi in Milan, also the venue of an exhibition of all the products participating to the 24th edition of the Award, on display from the 15th to the 22nd of June.

The items receiving an award or a Mention of Honour become part of the Compasso d’Oro ADI Collection, which the Ministry for Cultural Assets and Activities declared being “of unique artistic and historical interest” in 2004.

CataCATA, designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua

Cata is a family of LED projectors derived from thorough research on accent lighting, mostly used in museums but also broadly applied in retail and hospitality venues. This project is characterized by high energy efficiency and high light intensities, as well as by innovative research implemented through optoelectronic and mechanical patents. The use of clear materials, combined with reflecting surfaces, makes the appliance’s presence in space almost immaterial to enhance the role of light.

florensisFLORENSIS, designed by Ross Lovegrove

Florensis “is a lighting aesthetics concept for all kinds of applications.” This appliance looks like a vegetal organism, a project with organic forms whose functions are both aesthetic and technical. Its flower-like configuration diffuses LED light through branched slots in the diffuser promoting heat dissipation and protecting from the source’s glare.

sisifoSISIFO, designed by Scott Wilson

Sisifo is a table lamp with a patented optical system that ensures great visual comfort and addresses multiple lighting requirements. The central spherical junction allows free adjustment of light, thus ensuring appropriate illumination on broad working tops, as well as on smaller surfaces. Sisifo is made of aluminium and has a flat plastic diffuser that tilts in all directions and emits a warm and relaxing LED light, operated by means of a touch remote control.

Once again Artemide acts as an expression of the best Italian design, with innovative lighting projects combining technological research with high aesthetic and manufacturing quality to produce a new quality of light.
