London, January 15, 2015 – The lamp Equilibrist, originated from cooperation between Artemide and renowned architect Jean Nouvel, received the prestigious Wallpaper*Design Award 2015 for the category “Best office accessories”.
For over a decade the Wallpaper*Design Award 2015 has been bestowed on innovative projects and ideas selected by a jury of outstanding representatives of the world of fashion, design, and architecture.
Equilibrist is an aluminium table appliance characterized by simple lines and a minimal design. It has two heads – round and square – fitted with two separate 4W and 7W LED sources at both ends of a rocker arm connected with the central stem. These two luminous counterweights can be adjusted both vs. the vertical and vs. the horizontal axis, in constant dynamic balance.
Jean Nouvel describes the lamp he designed for Artemide as follows: “Two lamps that look like a scale pursuing balance. Equilibrist is a signalling and recreational object – two different rotating and revolving lamps moving around a vertical axis. Something like a high-tech traffic light, with signals emitting an asymmetrical light.”
Artemide also won the the past edition of the Wallpaper*Design Award, with the lamp Empatia, designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua and Paola di Arianello, receiving the important acknowledgement for the category “Best Transparency”.
