SPECTRAL LIGHT BY ARTEMIDE ACKNOWLEDGED AT THE WALLPAPER* DESIGN AWARDS 2016
Milan, January 20, 2016 – The project Spectral Light, born from a cooperation of Artemide with architect Philippe Rahm, was acknowledged at the Wallpaper*Design Awards 2016 for the “Best Bright Ideas” category.
Spectral Light explores the breakdown of the light spectrum to create a light that makes home dwellers “feel comfortable”, including man, as well as plants and pets.
A light addressing man’s biological and physiological needs with respect for the environment.
In the project introduced at Euroluce 2015, the “artificial rays” inserted through the top convey the different wavelengths, whose colours are always visible, as in a sort of “electromagnetic impressionism”. The waves mix together in the translucent bottom fading to white by chromatic addition.
The partnership with Philippe Rahm and his ideas is the natural continuation of the research and innovation process traditionally carried out by Artemide on the sustainability, as well as on the psychological and physiological perception of light.
Artemide won two past editions of the Wallpaper*Design Awards: in 2014 the lamp Empatia, designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua and Paola di Arianello, was acknowledged for the “Best Transparency” category; in 2015 the lamp Equilibrist, designed by Jean Nouvel, was awarded for the “Best Office Accessories” category.
The Wallpaper*Design Awards are the annual awards attributed by the magazine Wallpaper* to people, places, products, and ideas that boast special innovation and are bound to create a trend. The winners are selected by a much respected international jury made up of outstanding names from the design, architecture, and lifestyle world.
