Artemide sponsors the 15th International Architecture Exhibition

La Biennale di Venezia

The Italian Group, an international lighting design leader, sponsors the 15th International Architecture Exhibition. La Biennale di Venezia (May 28 through November 27, 2016) and renews its collaboration, in place since 2015, to support one of the main Italian and international institutions in opening up and disseminating new visions of art and architecture.

This year Artemide supports “Reporting from the front”, and shares the perspective and ethical and social research contents that Alejandro Aravena offers as food for thought – improve the quality of life through an architecture that takes a proactive attitude towards real-life challenges.

This significant cooperation with the most representative part of the international architecture landscape further confirms the importance of architecture as an integral part of the world of Artemide, as well as the close connection it promotes between the Culture of Design and the Culture of Light.

The Artemide lighting projects as highlights of collective and social spaces

The support of Artemide to the International Architecture Exhibition also comes from its lighting projects that lead visitors through their experience across the exhibition, both indoor and outdoor.

Lighting skills, an emotional approach, aesthetic and innovative values are effectively displayed in outdoor collective and meeting places, illuminated with lighting projects that perfectly blend with the surrounding space and nature – these include the Piroscafo lamps designed by Ernesto Gismondi, Reeds by designer Klaus Begasse, and Tolomeo by Michele De Lucchi & Giancarlo Fassina, in its multiple outdoor versions. For thirty years now, Tolomeo has been the most effective testimonial of the unique ability of Artemide to implement the long-term concept in products subject to continuous updating.

Architect De Lucchi also designed the appliances Noto and Led Net, selected to illuminate the Sale d’Armi in the Arsenale, whereas the suspension appliances in the Educational area were designed by Wilmotte & Industries.

At the Restaurant Le Bombarde, Artemide welcomes guests with the suspension lamps Calenda, designed by Italo Rota and Alessandro Pedretti, and the colourful scenarios produced by Les Danseuses, a hybrid light-and-air project by Atelier Oi conceived for Danese (Artemide Group).

The Bookshop features the products of the IN-EI collection designed by Issey Miyake, as well as special clusters of Empatia, a lighting project by Carlotta de Bevilacqua that offers a perfect combination of technological innovation and the Venetian glass-blowing art. The Press Room features iconic appliances that convey the historical background and the skills of Artemide, important evidence of the Group’s on-going cooperation with internationally renowned architects and designers.

… as well as in exhibiting spaces
The skills of Artemide are conveyed by the appliances selected to illuminate the Exhibition venues and two Special Projects.
The lamps Nur, designed by Ernesto Gismondi, highlight the exhibition “A world of fragile parts,” curated by Brendan Cormier from the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Technological lighting solutions, integrated with the different exhibition settings, are key in the project “Report from the cities: conflicts of an urban age” curated by Ricky Burdett from the London School of Economics Cities, as well as in the “Beyond Bending” by Philippe Block on display at the 15. Exhibition.
Technological innovation, high-quality manufacturing, interactions with outstanding architects, sociological investigations are the themes for research at the basis of the Artemide lighting projects, designed to offer perfect solutions to improve the quality of life in residential spaces – including both our own and those of future generations. Lighting projects that powerfully illuminate our future.
