“Perché un film su Michele De Lucchi”

Milan, October 2013 – In its effort to promote the culture of design among young people and a wide audience, Artemide was among the sponsors of the Milano Design Film Festival, the first Italian motion pictures festival dedicated to architecture and design, an important event that attracts designers, architects, and movie-makers.
Design itself is one key factor by which Artemide has become one of the world’s most renowned and prestigious lighting brands, providing a crucial contribution to the history of international design with lamps that are now on display at the main museums of modern art and design around the world.
“Design for us is not just about looks, but a true way of designing. Artemide traditionally partners with great masters of international design and constantly seeks young emerging designers and new talents,” says Ernesto Gismondi, President of Artemide Group.
The festival agenda includes the documentary movie “Perché un film su Michele De Lucchi” by Alessio Bozzer, dedicated to architect and designer Michele De Lucchi, a partner of Artemide for many years. The company’s co-operation and close friendship with De Lucchi were also mentioned by the President of Artemide during the debate that followed the show.
For Artemide, Michele De Lucchi has created appliances that are now part of the Artemide archive, including Tolomeo, designed with Giancarlo Fassina in 1987 – a piece of design that is still recognized as a made-in-Italy icon.
