Artemide goes #BIG!
For the London Design Festival, the Artemide Flagship Store in London is presenting its new collections, the fruit of its collaboration with the most important international architecture studios and its technological research.
Artemide interprets a range of cultural perspectives on the design of lighting, with its increasingly international work with leading contemporary designers. Not only important new collaborations, such as its work with Alejandro Aravena's Elemental studio, but above all established design partnerships like its work with BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), Neri&Hu and Foster+Partners: projects which grow, evolve and expand, illuminating the buildings created by these leading studios, which are changing the panorama of contemporary architecture.
From its synergy with BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), Artemide is continuing to develop the Alphabet of Light system, conceived to illuminate spaces flexibly and comfortably, and Gople Lamp, the lamp which nourishes nature and follows human perception. Gople Lamp is the perfect marriage of the most recent technologies with millennial traditions, a point at which the art of Venetian blown glass meets modern RWB technology and its most simple version with the E27 socket, flexible in adapting to developments in standard light sources.
Presented at the last Light & Building and boasting three Patents Pending, it is already illuminating numerous spaces including new BIG's New York headquarters at Dumbo and WeGrow's latest project, the first “aware and entrepreneurial” school of the WeWork brand, recently inaugurated at New York. Yanzi and nh unite Artemide's unique know-how in lighting solutions with the interpretations of Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu. They are a synthesis of oriental tradition and innovation, the fruit of a dynamic interaction of experience, detail, material, form and light. Two families of lamps, Yanzi and nh, in a vast number of versions, open to innumerable custom solutions. The collaboration with Foster+Partners is the perfect testimony to how Artemide collections represent a world of products for the most diverse application fields: high performance lighting with a unique expressive power, able to evoke feelings not just due to the presence and beauty of the physical product, and also to its absence and pure light itself. Orsa is an elegant suspension lamp with modular intelligence, designed to grow and adapt to any design with custom solutions. This perfectly controlled light gives rise to unprecedented scenarios, like the imposing chandelier created for National Bank of Kuwait. Hoy, on the other hand, is a functional lighting system designed for the Node infrastructure system, developed by Foster+Partners in collaboration with Price Industries, consisting in a family of spotlights and linear elements whose formal rigour is suited to the most varied and demanding spaces. In its London showroom, Artemide casts an increasingly wide ranging light on solutions for both private and public spaces, for life and work, such as Ernesto Gismondi's Discovery system, which won the Compasso D’Oro in June this year, and the Calipso family by Neil Poulton, that provides the perfect lighting output also for work spaces.
Artemide is also able not only to design the most suitable light for any setting, but also to offer a platform of open possibilities for the creation of new services, capable of developing and integrating with many products and systems to put together the perfect lighting solution with an innovative interpretation of interaction and service. To do this, the brand offers a package of expertise and possible application solutions for sophisticated digital protocols and technologies to implement the designs it develops in the lighting industry: Geo-LiFi, Li-Fi, Artemide App, IoT interaction, sensors, software.
