Neri&Hu is invited as the Guest of Honour for the upcoming Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair held in February 2019.
Focus of the installation is the social issue of disappearing villages and village culture.
Neri&Hu wanted to create an exhibition that represents and captures the essence of the traditional Chinese village with product designs centered around and informed by notions of nostalgia, dwelling, home, family and the individual’s relationship within a collective.
NH and Yanzi therefore enter this path through Chinese culture.
The Yanzi and nh1217 families are the perfect combination of tradition and innovation, in a sustainable interaction of material, form and light, open systems ideal for constructing lightweight compositions and lightscapes. With simplicity and poetry they light up different contexts. New versions will soon enrich the NH family of composite structures to bring light into space.
"We are not interested in exporting a single culture, but rather in cultural exchange. Working on contemporary design requires all parties to bring their own competencies to the table in a dialogue between cultures from which all can learn." Carlotta de Bevilacqua, Vice President & CEO Artemide
This is the attitude with which Artemide has always worked with the most important architecture studios, each of whom has brought their own cultural perspective to the design of lighting solutions.
Neri&Hu projects are a perfect example of how Artemide collection represent a unique crossover of values: the approach to human and responsible light is combined with design and material know-how, in a coming together of the most advanced technology and ancient knowledge, in the perfect expression of sustainable design.
