SEA, in co-operation with the Milan Municipality, introduces the show “La magia di un ritorno”, organized from May 16, 2019 to February 29, 2020 at the Milan Malpensa Airport’ Gateway to Milan under the supervision of Flavio Arensi, featuring the seven stone sculptures of I Sette Savi (The Seven Sages) produced in 1961 by Fausto Melotti.
The sculpted group returns to Malpensa with a new set-up designed by Michele De Lucchi six years after the show that had restored the North-Italian artist’s masterpiece to its original beauty through a careful and accurate intervention, after over fifty years of neglect.
Like six years ago, the figures of the Seven Sages are now skilfully illuminated by Artemide with a carefully-designed project aimed at enhancing their three-dimensional character through a painstaking definition of contrasting luminance.
The Magic Threshold, Milan’s Gateway to the world, officially opened in 2011, welcomes people in transit at the airport and also proved an ideal stage to host to art initiatives and temporary shows. Artemide has been involved since its creation to underline the works of great masters on display in this venue through its light: Fausto Melotti, Marino Marini, Gio Ponti, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, as well as contemporary art authors, such as Helidon Xhixha, Carlo Bernardini, Alessandro Busci, and others.
