Giancarlo Mattioli (Bologna 1933 - Bologna 2018) was an Italian designer who rose to fame during the 1950s and 60s.

His most famous work, the Nesso Table Lamp, is part of the collection at New York’s Museum of Modern Art and other important museums, and remains stylish and modern despite being created in the mid 20th century. The celebrated Nesso won first prize at the Studio Artemide Domus competition in Milan in 1965.

In the 1960s he founded the Gruppo Architetti Urbanisti "Città Nuova" together with Pierluigi Cervellati, Umberto Maccaferri, Franco Morelli, Gianpaolo Mazzucato and Mario Zaffagnini.
